Fallen Flowers I By Emma Ashby, Wax Painting
This original contemporary encaustic (wax) painting (almost like a sculpture) belongs to a small group of abstracted purple poppies. Emma uses burnt orange, yellow, gold and white to highlight the intense and rich motifs. She uses a soft pastel palette filled with blues, a touch of pink, white and gold to surround the poppies; This work is heavily inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe, Chagall and Mother Nature herself. Whether encaustic is applied on linen or printed textiles are integrated into the depths of the layers, a synthesis of something unique and beautiful becomes visual. This piece encapsulates the stuff of nature; Colors, textures, shapes and patterns of life, ebb and flow, beauty and rhythm are all about the true essence of the fragility of life.
